Overview:
A blood test that measures the level of LH, produced by the pituitary gland, which is responsible for triggering ovulation in women and testosterone production in men.
Purpose of the Test
Fertility/ovulation assessment. To investigate irregular or absent menstrual cycles, infertility, symptoms of menopause, testosterone production and testicular function.
Preparation Required
Mostly day 2 or 3 of the woman's cycle is preferred. However, the timing of the test may be specified by the requesting clinician.
No fasting required.
